Importunity in prayer means that we are persistent and urgent before God, by exhibiting strong confidence and unwavering faith, persevering in seeking until we receive answers from Him. It's not a little talk with JESUS or a passive request, but a dynamic and passionate supplication and intercession before the LORD.

Importunity in prayer means refusing the temptation to give up until we see breakthroughs in our situations. As we persevere, God will grant us the strength to trust Him.
Prayer of Importunity and persistence in prayer are one and the same. Both require firm faith and steadfast confidence in God’s ability. It ensures we do not fear or hesitate in the face of danger or difficulty. By praying persistently, we access God’s treasures in Heaven, drawing them into our earthly realm through faith.
Scripture Reference:
“Now Jesus was telling the disciples a parable to make the point that at all times they ought to pray and not give up and lose heart," (Luke 18:1) Amplified Version
God established the prayer system to enable us to express our love for Him and engage in heartfelt conversation with Him. When prayer lacks fellowship with God, it devolves into mere ritual. Persistence in prayer is more than just talking; it is a profound communication with God.
When interceding for others or praying for ourselves, we should be persistent, just like Jacob, until we experience an encounter with God's power that changes our situation.
In Genesis 32:24-28, Jacob did not accept “no” for an answer, even when it came from an angel. He fought and prevailed, refusing to give up even when wounded. His persistence in his request is a testimony to the power of importunity in prayer.
MAINTAINING OUR FAITH IN GOD
Persistence in Prayer requires us to maintain our faith in God despite facing resistance, trials, and challenges. We must continue to believe in God, even when answers seem delayed, because a delay does not mean denial. Our persistence in prayer will be tested, but we must hold on to God's promises against all odds and seek His strength to maintain our faith and resist doubt.
REFUSE TO GIVE UP UNTIL YOU GET UP
Persistent prayer means refusing to give up until we get up. You should pray until you see breakthroughs in your circumstances. As you persevere, God will grant you the strength to trust Him for even greater things and help you resist the temptation to abandon His promises.
Let us pray,
Heavenly FATHER, I thank You for the blessing of fellowship with You when I pray. I refuse to give up on Your promises in the face of opposition. I choose to trust Your Word until my answers come. I continue to give you thanks now and always, in JESUS' Mighty Name. Amen!
