HOW TO BE A GOD CHASER

A God chaser is a person who is intentional in knowing God and making Him known. He has a vision, mission and passion for God's Person, Presence and Purpose for his life. He is willing to go forward against all odds and press in on God's promises, provisions and power.

Paul the Apostle describes chasing after God this way: "I chase after that I may catch that which apprehended me" (Phil. 3:12).

In the preceding verses, he states,

“That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death. If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead." (Philippians 3:10-11) KJV

Many believers in CHRIST have the privilege of walking with God for many decades. But, like everyone who have been saved by the grace of God through faith, we came from a background of sin. (See Romans 3:23)

The most important point here is, knowing God is not a one-time experience, but a continuous experience of a closer walk with the LORD. It is a life long journey of faith and devotion, so that we become diligent God-chasers.

Becoming a God chaser doesn't mean that we didn’t find God at salvation, although He was never lost, we were the lost ones. It was God Who found us by His grace through faith. (Ephesians 2:8)

MY SOUL, MY LIFE AND MY VERY SELF LONGS FOR GOD

The Psalmist states in Psalms 63:8, reading from the Amplified version, "My souL, my life, my very self clings to You; Your right hand upholds me".

You become God chasers when you long to know Him daily and earnestly desire to know more of His ways. This is the reason the Apostle Paul wrote in Philippians 3:10-12,

"...that I may know Him experientially, becoming more thoroughly acquainted with Him, understanding the remarkable wonders of His Person more completely and in that same way experience the power of His resurrection, which overflows and is active in believers, and that I may share the fellowship of His sufferings, by being continually conformed inwardly into His likeness even to His death, dying as He did; so that I may attain to the resurrection that will raise me from the dead. Not that I have already obtained it - this goal of being CHRIST-like or have already been made perfect, but I actively press on so that I may take hold of that perfection for which CHRIST JESUS took hold of me and made me His own". (Amplified Bible)

HOW TO BE AN EFFECTIVE GOD CHASER

To be effective in chasing God, you must not assume or conclude that you already know enough of Him. But you should count yourself to be on the way, getting better every day as you reach out for more of God and His WORD.

You must diligently reach out for more of CHRIST, Who has so wondrously reached out for us through His redemptive work.

You must not assume that you are an expert in the knowledge of God or the works of righteousness, but to keep your eyes on CHRIST and have the goal to become like Him in words and deeds.

Heavenly FATHER, I thank You WORD, I thank You for the joy of knowing You at salvation through the saving grace work of the LORD JESUS CHRIST. I ask for grace to know You more daily, to love You more dearly and follow You more nearly day by day in JESUS NAME. Amen.
